Making Learning Meaningful

For a more detailed understanding of the content covered in the readings and video lectures of this course, it is suggested that you take notes and synthesize the main ideas in your own words.

Try one or more of the following methods of note-taking:

  • Create a concept map or diagram to identify connections and relationships between key concepts (you can use free online resources like CMap, an open-source software developed by the Florida Institute for Human & Machine Cognition, or Miro, an online collaborative whiteboard platform with useful templates)
  • Create reading written notes (using Google docs, for example)
  • Create audio notes
  • Take notes directly in the margins of your texts/pdf files (you can use a free PDF reader)

Taking the time to synthesize the main ideas for each lecture activity (Video Lecture and/or Reading) will help you maximise the learning experience.
